English: Phugdi is an art form, which can be seen in the ancient cultural traditions of Maharashtra. Phugdi is performed on various religious and social occasions.Balloons are made in a circle. The dance begins with an invocation to the Hindu deities. The pace is slow in the beginning, but soon it picks up speed and reaches the climax. No percussion is used for this. At maximum speed, the dancers keep up with the rhythm by blowing air through their mouths in a "foo"-like sound.
